Treatment Description
Body image is a powerful perception of how we think and feel about ourselves physically, and how we believe others see us. Although having body image concerns is a relatively common experience and is not a mental health problem itself, it can be a risk factor for mental health problems.
People with a positive body image are more likely to have good mental health. Men, women and children with higher body dissatisfaction are at a greater risk of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-esteem, confidence and other mental and physical health conditions.
If you are struggling with body image issues or low self-esteem, talking to a therapist can offer support and help and provides opportunity to develop positive body awareness.
